About Me
JOURNEY
I graduated high school in 2015 and began my undergraduate at the University of Colorado later that year with a merit scholarship. I majored in Mathematics and Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. I began research on snowfall over Antarctica as an undergraduate, and quickly became fascinated with Antarctica. I continued on at the University of Colorado Boulder for my PhD, and I love being part of the Antarctic research community.
BACKGROUND
I am a 4th-year PhD candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder, studying atmosphere-ice interactions in Antarctica. I was born and raised in Colorado, and I live in Boulder. My parents immigrated to the U.S. from Germany and South Africa, and I grew up bilingual speaking English and German. I am an only child, and growing up, I visited my grandparents in Germany often.
INTERESTS
I love exploring the mountains and spending time outdoors. Hiking is one of my favorite activities — especially a good scramble to reach the summit. I also like to rock climb, particularly bouldering. In the winter, I go downhill and cross country skiing. I get overly excited when it snows and am content to sit on the couch with a cup of tea and watch the snowflakes fall past my window.
